    Usor e de câstigat, greu e de păstrat.
  2. He that will eat the KERNEL must crack the nut.
    Cine va să mănânce miezul trebuie mai întâi să spargă coaja.
    Sparge întâi nuca ca să-i mănânci miezul.
    Sim. You cannot make an omelette without breaking eggs.
    Cf. He that would eat the FRUIT must climb the tree.
  3. The KETTLE calls the pot black-brows (burnt-arse).
    Sade hârbul în drum si râde de cei ce trec.
    Sim. The pot calls the kettle black.
    Cf. Thou art a bitter BIRD, said the raven to the starling / The FRYING-PAN said to the kettle, "Avaunt, black brows!"
  4. A golden KEY can open any door.
    Cheia de aur deschide toate usile (portile).
    Aurul e cheia ce merge la toate încuietorile.
    Sim. There is no lock but a golden key will open it.
    Cf. No LOCK will hold against the power of gold.
  5. The KICK of the dam hurts not the colt.
    Unde dă mama, carnea creste.
  6. Every man is a KING in his own house.
    Tot omul e împărat în casa lui.
    Fiecare e stăpân în casa sa.

    Cum e domnu si servitoru.
